"The" shoot that inspired our ballerina images
Here's something I found in our archives from a couple years ago, "the" dancing shoot which inspired the ballerina styled images of our latest collection. The dresses were modelled by Sonoya Mizuno who went on to star as Kyoko in Ex Machina in Hollywood, written and directed by Alex Garland and shot by conceptual fashion photographer Oliver Prout.
The dresses have always been named after inspirational dancers and performers, such as Josephine Baker, Anna Pavlova, Geneviève Gosselinn, Mistinguett, Colette and Loie Fuller. So, it made sense to look for a dancer to show off the dresses’ movement and flow, and a ballerina embodies the same modern elegance at the heart of the Sabina Motasem ethos. The idea worked a treat.
Stylist magazine filmed behind the scenes for Clinique, and interviewed me on what its like in the day in the life of Sabina Motasem too.
The shoot features Elsa, a bias cut wedding dress and Loie, a cowl neck full skirt dress. Watch the full video on you tube here.
