International women's day 2021
International Womens day is celebrated every year on the 8th of March. This is the day to celebrate the achievements of women globally and to raise awareness about womens equality along with fundraising for female focused charities.
The theme for 2021 is ‘Choose to Challenge’. ‘A challenged world is an alert world. And from challenge comes change. So let's all #ChooseToChallenge’ - as mentioned on the official International Women's Day website.
Sabina Motasem is a woman owned business and we have worked with a range of talented seamstresses, pattern cutters, technologists and stylists who have a wealth of knowledge and expertise. As a team we have learnt so much from these gifted women and have worked together to create the most beautiful dresses.
We have always been inspired by iconic women and have named our dresses in the archive and couture collection after creative women who have changed the world with their artistic talents. 'Elsa' is one of our most popular dresses, named after the famous fashion designer, Elsa Schiaparelli. She was one of the very first fashion designers who paved the way for other designers by introducing many styles and techniques. 'Josephine' is another popular dress which is named after Josephine Baker, a dancer and singer who was popular in France during the 1920s. She was a style icon an activist and fought for civil rights. She was the first African American woman to star in a major motion picture.
There are a number of ways we can make the most of the day and incorporate into our daily lives such as supporting womens charities, networking and offering to mentor, praise a colleague or friend, volunteer and offer support to women in your community who need it the most, support a woman owned business by promoting and doing a social media shoutout, thank a woman who inspires you, offering words of encouragement to the women who need it the most, check in with other women in your life and so much more.
Let’s take a look at some of the most inspirational quotes by these extraordinary women….
Wishing you a Happy International Women's Day 2021!!!
